Our story
We started with one problem: dairy free cheese that didn't taste or melt the way it should. So we made our own, and built a factory to make it properly.
That factory became the heart of the business. We grew from zero into New Zealand's largest dairy free cheese manufacturer, and today we create our own recipes, run our own production in Glen Eden and supply retail, foodservice and export customers across New Zealand, Australia and Asia.
Now we're using the same team and the same factory to build new brands, move into new categories and make products for other companies.
The Alternafoods model
Create. We find the gap and build the brand and the recipe.
Develop. We take it from kitchen to commercial formulation, shelf life and packaging.
Make. We produce it in our own halal certified Auckland facility.
Grow. We take it to retail, foodservice and export markets.

Owning our factory means we control quality, cost and timing. We can trial a recipe, adjust it and move it into full production quickly, without waiting on someone else's schedule.
That control is why our own brands can move fast, and why other companies trust us to make theirs. Every product is made in our halal certified (NZIDT) Glen Eden facility under our registered Food Control Plan.
